I can't help but look mildly psychotic when I smile, so here's some CRAZY MOON. The outstretched hand says, "GIVE ME YOUR SOUL" or maybe "I EAT BABIES" I'm not sure which.
Eternal Moon was my first Myu fuku but I did a really crappy job on it, so I remade the entire thing last fall. Of course, being the lazy bum that I am, I didn't get pictures of it until this week.
Eternal Moon is kind of my most favorite-est-est-est (I love Anza ;_; ), and I was a bit sad that I didn't have any pictures. I apologize for the not so great photo, I really just wanted photo evidence that I did actually make this costume and it does exist.
I will get better pictures eventually, I just need a break from the musical costumes. :B
I just can't get past how unflattering they are...
For the record, I'm not talking about how you've made your costumes, I just mean... you know, the original designs from the musicals. Your cosplay is some of the best I've ever seen, without any doubt whatsoever. I don't want to be unclear in that regard...
Well, it took me a while to get into Sera Myu. I mean, for a long time I saw people making the Myu costumes and I just kind of scoffed and was like, "Dayum, those are some of the most unflattering costumes I've ever SEEN, why would you intentionally make that?" ... but then once I started watching the musicals I got sort of attached. I mean, they're awful. They're so awful that they're GOOD. You know? I mean, they're so so gaudy and 80's tastic with synthesizers and bad wigs most of the time. But I totally got sucked in and now I find myself really enjoying the music and the costumes and some of the actresses. So... I mean, from an objective standpoint the costumes are SO BAD. But from where I'm standing, they're amazing and they make me feel all sorts of happy and nostalgic and remind me of the summer when I first started really getting into the musicals.
Jeez, I'm sorry I didn't mean for this reply to be practically essay-length. D:
I think it's similar to how I feel about Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. I found out about it, and I thought it was ridiculous... and then I started watching the show online, and out of nowhere, I was watching after school every day, spending hours loading the next episode on YouTube (before the length limits/copyright stuff, as well as before I had cable internet)... and after awhile, instead of seeing how horrendous the costumes and wigs and fights and props are, I fell in love with the quirkiness of the whole thing.
I understand how you mean. But just for fun, you should put together the most ungodly combination of Sailor Moon costumes possible. Like... Sera Myu piss-yellow wig, with Neo Queen Serenity dress... and..... uh.... Sailor Moon's Boots and gloves. And then you'll have a good reason to cry yourself to sleep? Or laugh too much? I don't know.
Oh god have you seen her dress in the musical? It's SO BAD. I mean, it's not so bad it's good it's just SO BAD. It's some gigantic goldish-white gown with gigantic gold.... tentacles all around the neck and shoulders with her awful goofy yellow wig...
Yeah, I could never get into PGSM. But I know what you mean, that's kind of how I was with the musicals. I guess I just imagined something much grander than what it is when they first mentioned a Sailor Moon live action show and ever since then I've just felt disappointed.
Ha! I just might try that though. It would certainly be entertaining.
I don't think I will be able to sleep, now that I know a dress like that exists. It must have consumed countless souls.
I just think the transformation sequences are the best things to happen... ever. In human history. Specifically Sailor Mercury's, how she just like... complacently slaps her boots on, and then there's the most NOT dramatic plop of water in the background.
And then they have tambourines for weapons? Or something? And ... yeah. I gave up when Jupiter was getting suicidal. Slash the abomination that is Sailor Luna.
I want a new Sailor Moon series. Cutie Honey got like a thousand, so I think Sailor Moon deserves a breath of fresh air.
Oh wow, that's... special. Yeah I couldn't quite get the whole idea of substituting a stuffed animal for Luna... I mean, I get that it was low-budget- but really? They couldn't get a real cat? I've totally toyed with the idea of doing a fanmade thing (because who hasn't?), but when it comes down to it I don't think I could find enough people willing to put as much time and effort into it as I'd like.
So long as it stays in Japan I have no problem with new Sailor Moon stuff... but I really don't want Hollywood to make a live action Sailor Moon movie. I just can't see it ending well at all.
Oh, I know... I don't think we'd ever see the horror that was the pitch for the half live-action, half animation, Blossom-tastic Sailor Moon... but I'm afraid it would be made into something stupid that's trying to be like an epic superhero movie.
Very nice photo.
I added your Sera Myu gallery to my favs.
I love it O_O
you are such an amazing seamstress
and where on earth do you get these amazing wigs from!?
I just can't get past how unflattering they are...
